Christmas Extravaganza

December 29th, 2007 by admin
IMG_2430.JPG

This year we was the kids first real Christmas. Last year they were so small. Leading up to Christmas day we went to the local churches for the walking of the live Christmas story. There are 5 churces all on the same block including my own Catholic church St. Cornelius. At each church they have large scenes wih live animals and people and you walk in order and read and see the nativity story. I even once participated in my youth and played a wise man. I carried the Myrh. We met up with my family and we drank hot cocoa and cider. Aiden and Chase had a good time in there wagon.

I finally pulled out my old lionel train set to place around the Christmas tree. I had not played with it in over 20 years. It worked. Amazing! I set it up in a simple loop for a test and the kids absolutely loved it. Chase especially loves putting his little animals into the car and laughs as they go around. We also took the kids to disneyland for a failed trip that resulted in a broken camera. Up until the everything was going swell. We took a cute picture in front of the castle with all the Christmas decorations and we ended up in the Fantasy Fair we you can meet all the princesses. Our boys where the only boys in line. It was actually kind of funny and Aiden and Chase got much attention from all the princesses. We even ran into Lisa Marie who happened to be playing Pocahontas.

Christine’s Mom had her annual language school Christmas show where all the student perform a variety of Christmas activities from all over parts of the world. There was a special appearance from Santa Clause and Aiden and Chase got a couple of early presents. It seams like Ursula’s Christmas show gets better every year. She is really proud of it but goes a little crazy during the setup. But doesn’t everybody?
Ryan Cathcart came over and spent a day with us. It is always great seeing him. I miss his company since he has moved. Noche Buena was celebrated at my parent house. That is Cubans version of Thanksgiving. traditionally done with a whole pig but a spiral ham sufficed. This year my mom made it very traditional and we video taped the entire dinner. My grandfather is getting close towards the end and we just wanted to make sure we preserved our memories with him.
The big day came. Christine and I stayed up late assembling all their gifts the night before. The following morning we lead them to the family room and revealed all their gifts. Although they did not realize it was Christmas they knew there was something special because of all the new toys that where out.

The investigated everything with excitement and were particularly drawn to the ball pit. They did shy away from the rocking horse but have slowly been taking interest in it. We then went over to my parents house for more gift exchange and the big reveal of the train set my parents bought them. They went nuts and it was so cute to see them destroy the hours of work I had done in setting it all up. Later that day I cooked dinner for my inlaws and we sat down to a very nice meal.
We where exhausted at the end of the day. And turns out the boys where too. They fell asleep early and Christine and I sat down on the couch and enjoyed a little bit of the captain. Till next year!

Sheppy Sheps Annual Christmas Party

December 23rd, 2007 by admin
IMG_2608.JPG

Well, Another Holiday season and another one of Sheps Christmas parties hosted at Dans house in Santa Ana and starring the big guy Jesse. This year was really fun. When Christine and I walked in, we realized that as the years progress, the less people we know. All the faces seamed familiar, but they are from a very different generation of the Disney folks. Christine finally got to meet Sheps girlfriend who I kept on swearing to her was a cool chick. Christine and Patricia hit it off immediately. Patty is a very cool girl and after conversing with my wife we give her a 5 star rating.

Slowly our friends arrived and we got to spend much conversing time with Choi, Alexy, Trisha, and Hank. Other memorable highlights were Christa and the always fab Jaclyn. Here is a good picture of the two of them with Christine. There are so many reasons why I love this picture. Doug and Cameron were there and started making plans for Machu Pichu. They are now pushing it towards March which makes it even more difficult for me to go. Bastards! At least I’m invited.

We definitely got to spend some quality time with Shep and he even participated in a little station 1 action with me. If you don’t know what station 1 is them you are not my friend. Ron Voss made an appearance, and I always enjoy our A sexual humor together.

The Highlight of the evening besides Shep spinning was the giant Guitar Hero. Normally Dan projects a Christmas movie onto the garage such as Christmas Vacation. But this year they decided to bust out the guitar hero and shoot it onto the side of the garage. You were completely immersed in it. To add the the coolness and the experience there were 2 huge speakers pointed at you and a colored disco ball that was choreographed with the music. It was AWESOME. Here is a pic of it.

All in all, the party and food was great.  Christine and I had a great time as always. If you attended and your reading this thanks for a great time. You can view the album here. And please leave comments.  You say that you read this butI never see any of you.

Decking the Halls part II

December 11th, 2007 by admin
IMG_2490.JPG

We have finally completed our Christmas tree and interior decorations. For the first time I have purchased a 9 foot noble fir that is ginormous. I could not blelieve how big it is this year. We were going to buy all new ornaments for our tree this year but with time and cash being limited we opted to reuse our decorations one more year. Christine and I sat around our trimmed tree and drank wine as we enjoyed our Christmas tree this year. I also busted out my old Lionel train set which i havent played with in over 20 years. It still worked and got me very excited about buying some sets for my kids next year when they are a little older. Aiden and Chase have seemed very amused by the train and loving putting animals in it every time it goes around. I cant wait to see there expressions on Christmas morning when all the stuff Santa got them is around the tree. My gut feeling is that they are still a little young. But It always comes as a shock when I don’t think they will be able to do something and they do it. You can view the decorations HERE

An Unexpected Party

December 10th, 2007 by admin

img_2420-small.JPG

I was hanging out with the my kids Friday night while my wife was at her works Christmas party. I get an unexpected call from Cameron and Geoff. He wanted to come by and see the kids. I was excited on my Friday night to have some company so I said sure. After they arrived Cameron invited me to go hang out with him and Geoff at a lounge bar in Long Beach called the Basement/Lounge. I said of course.

We went to the Marriot in Downtown first and had a few cheap drinks at the bar. We also met up with some of Cam’s friends. We then went to the Basement and went downstairs. WOW! what ian interesting mix of people. First I have to say that every bartender girl there was smoking hot. If anything the place is a must see strictly for the talent there. The lounge itself is pretty cool and designed well with cool lighting and areas to hang out. The people is where the interesting part comes in. I ahve never seen such an eclectic group of people in one location. You had your cool hipsters. There where where also some hippity hop crowd. There where nerds pretending to be cool and a lot of bigger girls trying to pick up on men. There where Cougars and more than middle aged men trying to dance. It was weird seeing so many stereotypes living up to them.

During the nights events Geoff got trashed. I had a pretty good time, and Cameron hung out with us and his friends including pissing off to large older girls whos pick up line on Geoff and myself was asking if we had the time. LAME! Afterwards at 2 in the morning we went where everyone goes when there drunk. Roscos chicken and waffles! I now it sounds disgusting but if anyone has ever eaten there you know that it is one of the most spectacular things ever cr eated. Especially when you have had a few drinks. I ordered the Scos special number 2 which is your standard white meet fried chicken with 2 waffles. MMM MMMM MMMMMMMM.

We ended the evening meeting back up with Cam’s friends at the Scos and took a very drunk girl home who was in danger of being really taken advantage of by dirty dirty men. Cam drove me home and dropped me off. Truly an unexpected party for an evening.

Thanks Cam!
