When I got a call from Gabe to work on a new music video I jumped on the chance not only because i have worked with him in the past at our previous two employers but because he has some really cool ideas. His first video was incredible. Two weeks by Grizzly Bear. He handed out assignments to James Atilano and I and we picked what we wanted to work on. I purposely chose assignments that where out of my comfort zone such as the shark and the hammerfish including a little bit of particle animation. I feel that to keep advancing in my craft I must continuously step out of my comfort zone and do things I have not explored. It was an incredible time working with Gabe and James on this video and look forward to working with them in the future
So seriously. This has to be one of the funniest show I have seen in a while. At first it was awkward and slow. I really did not understand the humor that much. And then it hit me. It is very much in the vein as Napolean Dynamite. Not funny at first but the more you think about it the funnier it becomes. Now I look forward to every episode and have seen all the episodes from last season on my On Demand. It is sooo good. Can’t recommend it enough.
Well, I finally brought home Tron from the Flyds house. Sean Hartman had left it there when he moved to Florida. Sam kept it for a while and there it entertained people for a couple of years. I had asked for it and Sam said sure. pick it up! another couple of years went by and one day I went to the Floyds and there it was by the trash cans. I was like WHATTTTT!!!!!????? With the help of Davey, Sean, and Roman I through it in the back of my car and finally brought it home. What luck! it worked! But only after my brother (the electrical genius) spliced the power cable back after some dogs had chewed through it. Now comes the fun part of restoring it. I found much of the vector art work files online as well as the 129 page manual for it. In the manual it has all the schematics and parts numbers for the internal pieces. I also found the T-molding online as well as a company that reprints all the original artwork. My brother is helping me with all the electrical and we are currently trying to get all the fluorescent lights and black lights working. I’m learning so much from him. Like did you know all fluorescent lights have an independent fluorescent starter in the back that makes it turn on? I didn’t! I have ordered some of the decals online and I plan to print my own decals to save cost. The cabinet will be repainted and everything well look great.
Friday night we celebrated Doug’s birthday. We started the evening off at Lucille’s in Long Beach for a little southern soul. Our group consisted of The Floyds, The Albaughs, The Nuttmans, The Hernandi, and the Lieutenant. Doug had rented a limo. Actually, Jaclyn had rented a limo which was pretty classy. After dinner we hopped in and proceeded to our destination of Forty Deuce. We arrived a little on the early side for that club, but luckily there where people already there. We were escorted by the manager to our VIP booth (again, classy) and where then greeted by our really smoking hot beautiful waitress who attended to our every need. Every one drank alot. Christine and I got pretty toasty towards the end. Davey kept his drinking moderate as to avoid any type of violent behavior. After the first performance by the talented burlesque dancers Jaclyn and Setereh jumped on the bar and started dancing on stage. It was comical to watch our group up there but damn those two can shake there ass. The boys enjoyed Cigars in the parking lot and we all got pretty friendly toward the end of the evening. On our departure we saw 2 streetwalkers on the corner next to the Paramount lot and they got picked up by some pimp rides in a matter of seconds. It is always amazing to see that type of behavior here. You would think that police presence could curb that. But hey! who am i to argue with mans oldest profession. All in all it was a fabulous time and I thank the Nuttmanns for setting up such a classy evening. You can view the nights festivities here.
