Who knows what goes on in this world.

August 2nd, 2009 by admin

I guess i shouldn’t be surprised considering my grandfather raised me up on stories of a few companies controlling this world.  And the fact that all news stations are currently controlled by 7 people.  7 PEOPLE! are you kidding me.  I mean what the fuck. I guess i ask what news is unbiased and not censored.  I watch Fox and MSNBC for the right and left perspective and try to make up my own mind.  Aljazeera is awesome for finding out how the world percieves us.  And NPR is great too.  but the all have their slants.  I dunno what to do.

Here is an the amazing article that prompted this whole shit.

Good Night Sweet Prince

July 1st, 2009 by admin

So……. where do I begin.  I loved Billy Mays.  Even before the Pitchmen.  The show on the Discovery Channel made me love him even more.  I don’t know why but I am truly affected by his untimely death.  It did not help that on the show they introduced us to his son and father.  Both had the awesome beard too.

I guess whats affecting me most is that he was an average guy who became famous in his little microcosm.   He truly loved what he did.  I mean how many people do you know that have a passion for doing such a trivial job like selling products.  It did not matter that some where gimmicky or did not work.  He stood behind them regardless.  He also enjoyed helping other people get their products off the ground.  He was intelligent and knew what people would buy and for how much.

For me it boils down to not believing in the American dream anymore.  With all the crap going on in this country,  the reckless spending, the fortunes wiped out,  the Bernie Madoffs,  The bank failures.  The car companies combined with Governement Motors, Our elected representative government failures,  and just the sheer stupidity out there in the world.  Billy Mays was simple.  Loud, obnoxious, gregarious, megalomaniac, but pure.  Self made and a family man with a passion for selling products. It really does not get much simpler than that.  He would yell at me and I would listen.

May you sell some products to God Billy!

Im am so grateful to know Coral.  As you can see by the pictures she took of my boys she is an amazing and talented artist.  Her ability to capture moments are unmatched.  I would also like to take this moment of modesty and say the subject matter is pretty darn cute.  I know it has been a while since I have posted, but after seeing these photos I could not help myself. You can also take a look at Coral’s website here.

Fight of the Conchords

February 19th, 2009 by admin

So seriously.  This has to be one of the funniest show I have seen in a while.  At first it was awkward and slow.  I really did not understand the humor that much.  And then it hit me.  It is very much in the vein as Napolean Dynamite.  Not funny at first but the more you think about it the funnier it becomes.  Now I look forward to every episode and have seen all the episodes from last season on my On Demand.  It is sooo good.  Can’t recommend it enough.

Gran Torino

January 25th, 2009 by admin

I just finished watching Gran Torino with Christine and I must say It was a fantastic movie.  The trailers did not do that movie justice.  Clint was fantastic as the acting role.  But more importantly, for all the racial slurs and political incorrectness, the movie comes around full circle.  Clint befriends a family of a culture he does not understand.  and at the end [spoiler alert] gives his life for their well being.  I was really left with a lasting impression and cannot shake this movie out of my head.   Real or fictitious, I feel I understand veterans a little bit more.  It also gives me something to aspire to, namely my grumpy old man syndrome.  I can only hope that I am as cool as Clint was in the movie when he gets enraged by the youth of today.  Immediately after I checked to see in Gran Torino was nominated for an Oscar. What the hell.  Now I have not seen most of the Oscar Nominated movies but i cannot imagine that all of them are better than Gran Torino.  Oh well.  What am I gonna do about it.

IT’s Great to Have Well Scripted Shows!

January 18th, 2009 by admin

Big love returned this evening.  Thank the celestial heaven.  This season started off great with us being thrown right back into the family.  They caught us up early on and went straight into the dysfunction of the functional family.  Alby keeps getting better and better as they explore his homosexual tendencies.  It makes for great crazy.  Did I mention how much I love the opening credits.  We got to see all the major characters even if only for one scene, but it helped getting me right back in the mood.  HBO series are like that great prostitute you find on craigslist, bone a couple of times, and then she disapears for a couple of years.  Im sure most of you know what that feels like.   The ending of the season opener even made me cry a little. I know, GAYYYYYYYYYY.   Well,  now that the season opener aired I’m sure we will be counting down the last remaing episodes till the finally.  [Sarcasm] Oh! and by the way.  the fourth wife is pretty hot.  sounds like Borat.  Oh, and one more thing.  Albys latest wife who helped poison Roman is the girl on House that died last season.  It really bugs me seeing her because that episode of House really scard me.

Aiden and Chase’s First Snow Day

January 4th, 2009 by admin
IMG_0571.jpg
Ever watch Christmas Vacation and wonder how Clark tries to plan a perfect holiday vacation only to see it all blow up in his face throughout the movie?  That was what it felt like after two weeks of planning and getting the boys gear for their first snow day.  We went up to Arrowbear off the beaten path inbetween Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear to a secluded spot that Sam had discovered in the past.  After getting stuck in the snow with my car not once but twice we got the boys in their snow suits and took them up the hill.  Chase had a great time going down on the sled with me and Mom.  He also wanted to build a house in the snow.  Aiden on the other hand wanted nothing to do with anything.  He refused to put his hat and his gloves on.  He hated the snow and did not even want to step foot on it.  I guess 50 percent happiness is the most you can ask for.  After I got some runs in with Chase who everytime we got to the bottom turned around and asked “Lets do it again” We decided to call it a very short day.  Aiden did not stop crying the entire time.  Oh well.  It was their first time and hopefully once we build up the courage to try it again they will be a little more used to it.  In all it was fun especially when Sam had to tow my ass out of the snow with his strap. Here are the wonderful pics Briana took.

Golf Anaheim Hills

January 3rd, 2009 by admin
IMG_6385.JPG

Jaclyn asked me to write more blog posts this month so here is one.  Jack, Doug and I went golfing yesterday.  We went to the Anaheim Hills Golf Course.  I had never played there and I must say it was a very beautiful golf course.  The bad news was that it was really busy and We only played 12 of the 18 holes. It really sucked.  I had a very horrible game. I don’t really want to talk about it.  Jaclyn was really good. I had never played with her. And although she does not crush the ball she plays straight and consistant.  SHE CHEATS THOUGH!  HAHAHA,  Doug was teeing of great but that was about it.  Also the golf carts had computer screens that showed the position of the other golf carts and distances to them and the center green.  I thought they where pretty cool and had never seen them before.  It was overall a very good time especially after Jacks and I coffee with double Irish cream.  You can see the pics of the day here.

Its the Great Big Pumpkin Charlie Brown

November 13th, 2008 by admin

It has been a while since I have written one of these. I have been going through some issues lately. Namely my Grandfather passed away a couple of weeks ago. I will probably be writing a whole blog post on that. But in the meantime, Halloween has came and passed and I realized I have not posted any pictures due to my grieving time. It is very hard to stay focused these day especially when holidays force us to be happy. But regardless I have kids and there pretty f’ing cute these days. So without any further adieu.

IMG_5023.JPG
We took the boys to several pumpkin patches. Pa’s in Seal Beach turned out to be the best. We tried a couple of other ones but they all kinda sucked. Aiden and Chase are also starting to understand holidays and really had a fun time at the patches. They rode rides and loved every second of them. All the pics of the pumpkin patch are here!
IMG_5129.JPG
We also what I hope will be a long tradition of Pumpkin carving at the Casa de Hernandez. We had P.J and Jen over with Olivia and Josh and Amy came by with their 2 kids. Surprisingly for no planning at all it was a great success. everyone brought over a dish and I catered the main food I t was BYOP and I supplied the pumpkin carving kits. All the kids played well together and we took alot of pictures which you can see here!
I will be placing the Halloween night photos up soon so please stand by for an update.
